Special Projects
Marriage Roundtable Charter
Purpose
To restore and promote the institution of marriage as critically important to society and the well-being of children, adults, and communities; and to encourage and support efforts to help couples form and sustain healthy marriages.
Focus
To support local, state, regional, and national organizations as well as faith-based, governmental, and civic efforts that aim to:
● Educate the public on the importance of marriage to society and to the well-being of children, adults and communities.
● Come alongside couples to help form and sustain healthy marriages.
● Increase the understanding of teens and young adults of how marriage is a key pathway to personal happiness, human flourishing and societal stability.
Activities
To accomplish this purpose, we will provide support, encouragement, advice and resources, to promote marriage, and support healthy marriages through the following activities:
● Produce, promote, and distribute multimedia materials for a public awareness campaign on marriage that can be locally tagged and used to support efforts to increase the visibility and value of marriage and family formation.
● Develop a network of experts and speakers that are passionate about promoting marriage.
● Showcase and disseminate research that shows why healthy marriage matters to every sector of society, including the workplace, economy, education, healthcare, and public safety.
● Challenge local, state and federal governments, as well as private and corporate foundations, to increase their financial support of efforts to promote marriage and support healthy marriages.
● Convene local, state, regional and national leaders to enhance connectedness and create synergies across their respective efforts.
Organization
This initiative is ambitious in its goals, but humble in its organization. We are a lean organization--small staff working with a volunteer working Board--that does not require substantial financial support because it accomplishes its purpose through the provision of support to local, state, regional, and national partners, rather than its own efforts.
